Chambers Colombo (“the firm”) is committed to ensuring that chamberscolombo.com is accessible to as many people as possible, including those who rely on assistive technologies. Accessibility is treated as part of the firm’s wider commitment to standards, and this statement describes the measures we have taken, the standard we work to, and how to reach us if you encounter difficulty.

1. Conformance status

This website has been designed and built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments. “Conforms to Level AA” means the relevant success criteria have been met, though we recognise no site is ever entirely without imperfection.

2. Measures we have taken

Accessibility has been considered throughout the design and development of this website. In particular:

• Semantic structure. Pages use meaningful HTML landmarks and a logical heading order, so the content can be navigated by structure rather than by sight alone.
• Keyboard access. All interactive elements — navigation, menus, forms, and links — can be reached and operated with a keyboard, and a “Skip to content” link lets keyboard and screen-reader users bypass the header.
• Visible focus. The element currently in focus is clearly indicated as you move through the page.
• Colour and contrast. Text and interface colours have been chosen to meet the WCAG AA contrast thresholds against their backgrounds.
• Text alternatives. Meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text; images that are purely decorative are hidden from assistive technologies so they do not add noise.
• Reduced motion. Animations, transitions, and the loading sequence are minimised or removed for visitors whose devices request reduced motion.
• Responsive and resizable. The layout adapts to different screen sizes and remains usable when text is enlarged or the page is zoomed.

3. Compatibility

This website is designed to work with current versions of major browsers (including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge) and with the assistive technologies commonly used alongside them, such as screen readers and speech-recognition software. It may not perform as well in older or unsupported browsers.

4. Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. We are aware of the following, and are working to address them:

• The interactive map on the contact page is provided by a third party (OpenStreetMap) and may not be fully operable by keyboard or screen reader. As an accessible alternative, the firm’s full address is given in text alongside the map, together with a text link for directions.
• Documents that may be published or linked from the site in the future (for example PDFs) may not always meet the same standard as the website itself; where this affects you, please contact us and we will provide the information in an accessible format.

5. Ongoing assessment

Accessibility is assessed as part of our development process, using a combination of automated testing tools and manual review, including keyboard-only and screen-reader checks. We review the site when it changes and aim to correct any issues we identify.
